The Saree.com Story

A Legacy Half a Century in the Making

Some stories begin with a single thread. Ours began over 50 years ago in the heart of Ahmedabad, Gujarat — the cradle of India's most celebrated textile traditions. What started as a deep, familial love for indigenous weaves grew into Asopalav, one of India's most trusted names in ethnic fashion.

Today, that same passion powers Saree.com (legally known as APSC EMART LLP) — bringing five decades of expertise, trust, and craftsmanship to the world's doorstep.

We are not simply an online store. We are the custodians of a living heritage — one woven into every Gharchola, every Patola, every Ajrakh, and every Banarasi saree we offer.

Rooted in India's Textile Soul

India is not just where we are based — it is who we are. This land has gifted the world some of its most extraordinary textile traditions.

Gharchola

The sacred bridal weave of Gujarat, traditionally gifted to brides, woven with gold and silver zari in a distinctive checkered pattern. We work directly with master weavers in Jamnagar and Surat.

Patola

The double ikat silk saree from Patan, one of the most labour-intensive weaves in the world. A single Patola can take months to complete. We partner with the rare families who still practise this ancient art.

Ajrakh

The centuries-old block-printing tradition of Kutch, using natural dyes and geometric patterns that tell stories of the desert sky and earth. Sourced directly from artisan clusters in Bhuj.

Bandhej

The art of tie-dye that has adorned Gujarati women for over a thousand years. Each dot is tied by hand — a single dupatta may carry thousands of tiny knots, each placed with intention.

Banarasi Silk

From the ghats of Varanasi, these opulent silk sarees with intricate brocade work represent the pinnacle of Indian weaving. We source directly from trusted weaver families in Banaras.

Kanjivaram

The queen of silks from Kanchipuram, renowned for its rich heritage, heavy pure silk, and exquisite zari interlocked weaves. We source these magnificent bridal sarees directly from traditional weaving clusters in Tamil Nadu.

Our Artisan Partnerships

Behind every saree on Saree.com is a weaver, a block-printer, a dyer, or an embroiderer — often working in a small workshop or at a handloom in their home. We believe that fashion must be fair, and our relationships with artisans reflect that belief.
